Corporate Responsibility

  • As a successful and growing business, we have a clear responsibility to our customers, the people who work with us and society as a whole. That responsibility has a profound influence on the way we run the partnership today, just as it has done since Specsavers was founded in 1984.

  • We support local, national and international causes and are passionate about giving back to and working with the communities in which we operate. In 2015/16, we raised around £2.5 million for charities and good causes globally, and the total amount contributed to tax authorities around the world as a result of our commercial activities topped £474m.

  • We work to ensure safe and healthy workplaces for the people who make our products, where human and civil rights are respected. We are committed to our global ethical trading policy and conduct regular, independent audits of all our major suppliers outside Europe. All those in Europe already adhere to globally recognised regulatory standards.

  • We understand the impact we have on our environment and are committed to operating our businesses in a sustainable way. This means being efficient in the resources we consume, minimising the waste we generate and reducing our CO2 emissions in every area of the organisation.

    To make sure our stores have the best possible support, we're continuing to invest in our people, our stores and our infrastructure. It's an approach that's always benefited our business, bringing us more customers, more stores and a bigger market share year after year. By setting our people up for success, giving them the scope to develop and make the right decisions, we believe we will continue to grow.

The Specsavers joint venture partnership is based on mutual trust and understanding, values that also underpin the way we work with our colleagues and suppliers.

    Communities – giving back to and working with our local communities

    Specsavers is about more than just selling glasses, hearing aids and contact lenses. It is about changing lives – on our doorstep and further afield – for the better. We make sure we give something back to the communities we work in, wherever we are in the world. Our offices, stores and manufacturing sites raise money as well as giving their time to support a huge variety of causes, charities and community initiatives.
