Key information

The Supply Chain teams are responsible for the manufacture and supply of ophthalmic lenses, contact lenses, frames and acquisition of goods and services not for resale. The various teams in Supply Chain need to work closely together in order to provide the best quality products, on time, to our retail stores in the most efficient way possible. To do this successfully involves careful planning, forecasting and logistics across multiple jurisdictions.

Supply Chain at Specsavers  starts from planning volumes and ranges, buying and / or manufacturing product and delivering it to stores.

Planning and Forecasting

The team is responsible for ensuring we buy the right products at the right time and in the right quantities to optimise the supply of products to our sites and our stores across the world.

Frame design and category management

The team has overall accountability for defining and developing the global frame range and work closely with the product hubs in each territory to help develop targeted ranges that meet the market needs.

Manufacturing and Distribution

The team is responsible for the manufacture and supply of ophthalmic goods across the world. We have our own manufacturing sites in the Europe, Asia and Australia and together with our global distribution centres enables us to offer an unrivalled portfolio of products and get the right product to our customers, fast.

Manufacturing Technology

The team is responsible for developing and maintaining a coherent technical and equipment strategy across the manufacturing and distribution estate.

Product development

This team secures the best deals on contact lenses and ophthalmic lenses and works closely with suppliers on developing excellent products to meet customer demands across the world.


The team concentrates on the acquisition of goods and services not for resale, for example optical equipment, shop fittings and uniforms for our stores. The team also work cross-functionally with all departments globally to negotiate best value on products and services to driving down costs to enable onwards savings to our customers

Building strong relationships are key to the success of our Supply Chain – whether this be with our Supply Chain partners and suppliers or internally with our regional hubs and product teams. Our teams work to source high quality products at competitive prices for our customers, negotiating the best deals, optimising value and driving down costs through global sourcing, tendering and negotiation.
