People and Organisation

Specsavers is built on talented people, so our people and organisation team is at the heart of what we do ensuring we attract, develop and retain the most talented people. Ultimately, we support the business and help our people to be the best they can be.

Key information

P&O covers a vast range of areas from HR business partnering, reward and policy, resourcing, organisation effectiveness (OE) and talent, internal communications and engagement, learning and development and services such as facilities management, group travel and group insurance.

HR Business Partners

Our HR business partners work closely with leaders and managers across the business, offering strategic people advice and support to help meet business goals. This can range from attracting and retaining talent and ensuring a consistent approach to developing teams and ensuring that the organisation is structured in the most effective way. Business partners link in with our specialist teams on reward, resourcing, internal communications, learning and development and organisation design.

Internal comms

Internal communications keep people informed about what’s going on and encourages great communication throughout Specsavers. Insight, our engagement programme, is an important part of this, enabling everyone – whether in a store, support office or manufacturing and distribution site – to have their say on life at Specsavers.

Group Services

Our Group services team look after a diverse range of areas. They ensure we have a great working environment by managing our office facilities, they ensure that we deliver on our carbon reduction plan and manage our business continuity plan to ensure we protect our people and our business. They provide full internal travel services so our people are in the right place at the right time. They also manage insurance cover for our employees and our different operating companies.

Learning & Development

Our learning and development specialists develop programmes and build relationships with professional bodies to provide our partners, store teams and support office teams with the very best training and development. They also work to ensure we have a consistent approach to leadership across the business.

Organisation Effectiveness

In an ambitious and fast-moving business such as ours, it is crucial that our capabilities, structures and processes are aligned effectively to deliver our business plans now and in the future. The OE team works across the business to ensure we focus on this to ensure we are organised in a consistent way, to bring simplicity and clarity to how the organisation operates as a whole and to ensure we manage change effectively.

Resourcing

Resourcing at Specsavers is about focusing on recruiting great talent to ensure we have the right skills and capabilities in place across the business. The resourcing team sources candidates directly wherever possible, tapping into the vast, online talent pool and ensuring that a candidate’s experience of Specsavers is a consistently positive one from the moment they consider us as a future employer.

Reward

The reward team develops and delivers our reward strategy, ensuring that we continue to evolve our reward package, benchmarking roles against the market and managing pay and bonus reviews. They are also responsible for policies and guidance across our employment practices.

Talent

In an ever changing global business it is critical that we have the right talent in the right roles to deliver our business plans. The Talent team are focused on ensuring we have a clear understanding of our internal talent and how we develop and retain our capability, in line with robust internal and external succession plans for the future.
