Apprenticeship Coach

Role summary

Apprenticeship Coach - Birmingham

Apprenticeships for the new generation....

Times have changed; many people are now preferring to continue their education with an apprenticeship rather than by attending university. At Specsavers we believe that apprenticeships are a great way to unlock the potential of young people and provide a way for them to embark on successful and fulfilling careers. We now have over 270 apprentices in the business and we are incredibly proud of their achievements and the value they add. Many of our apprentices continue to study and gain higher optical or leadership qualifications and are building their experience and knowledge to be the future leaders within Specsavers.

Due to the success of our Apprenticeship programme, we currently have an exciting new requirement for an Apprenticeship Coach to support the delivery the of the store Apprenticeship programme across the Birmingham region. This would be a fantastic opportunity for an Opticial Consultant/ Optical Trainer or Dispensing Optician to diversify your skills and experience, supporting us to help our people be the best they can be.

You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality programme to ensure learners achieve their Apprenticeship. This will include coaching and supporting learners, through Maths and English and their vocational elements of the Apprenticeship. On average you will be supporting a caseload of 36 learners, maintaining high quality records to ensure all criteria is met. You will also build strong relationships with our store Joint Venture Partners and Managers, supporting them with their ongoing Apprenticeship recruitment needs and informing and updating them on learner progress.

It is essential for this role that you have GCSE A-C Maths and English, 2 years + optical work experience and a clean driving licence with the ability to drive and travel regionally and as the business requires. You will also need to be passionate about developing people, helping them to reach their full potential, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.

If you have an assessing and/or teaching qualification at Level 3 and prior Apprenticeship experience within Optics, Retail and/or Customer Service this would also be advantageous.

Here at Specsavers we are happy to talk about flexible working.

Closing date for applications is 26th May 2019.
