Legal eagles have top awards in their sights
Our in-house legal team are shortlisted
for TWO Awards
The in-house legal team at Specsavers has made the shortlist in the UK Lawyer Awards for In-house Retail Team of the year.
The prestigious nomination also coincides with one of the team’s senior lawyers being up for an award of his own. Antony Douglass, legal director for intellectual property, data protection and digital strategy, has been nominated for In-house Counsel of the Year at the World Trademark Review industry awards.
Group Legal Counsel Dr Stretch Kontelj said he was delighted with the recognition. ‘For the team to be shortlisted as In-house Retail team is a wonderful achievement given the calibre of the other shortlisted teams from ASOS, Marks and Spencer and the N Brown Group.’
‘We face stiff competition to be named winner but receive tremendous encouragement from our acknowledgement as one of the finest in-house retail legal teams in the UK.’
He added that Antony’s nomination was a fitting reflection of his skills and the invaluable contributions his makes to protecting the Specsavers brand.
The Lawyer Awards are recognised as the leading accolades of the UK industry with the annual ceremony viewed as the biggest night of the legal calendar. The gala evening at Grosvenor House in London next month will bring together more than 1,300 private practice lawyers and senior corporate counsel to reward best practice and celebrate excellence across the legal profession.
The nomination comes on the back of the legal team’s shortlisting earlier in the year as European In-house Legal Team of the Year by the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Antony is shortlisted for his award alongside nominees from Marriott International, Adobe System, Intel and BMW. The ceremony takes place at a legal conference he is attending in Barcelona this month.
