With a thriving network of over 50 stores across Ireland, we’re focused on creating a great place to work for our Optometrists.

If you’ve read some of our previous stories, you’ll see it’s not just our stores moving forward, it’s our people too.

So, what makes life at Specsavers different for our Optometrists?

Our stores in Ireland offer a truly unique balance of work, life and reward for Optometrists. We understand clinical excellence is central to the role, but we’re going one step further by investing in the latest technology to equip our Optometrists to continue providing the incredible service they do. Customer focus goes without saying, but having the opportunity to truly care for your customers and use your skills to support the needs of the local community is a reminder of just how much of an impact you can have in your role at Specsavers.

Investment in the latest technology across Ireland

There is a huge demand across communities in Ireland for bigger stores and additional services, which is why we’ve chosen to expand and develop many stores over recent years. Even back in 2015 stores like Coleraine and Ballymena underwent major investment and are still moving forward now. With over £200,000 being invested in re-fitting locations like these, new state-of-the-art equipment and eyecare technology is part and parcel of life at Specsavers. Our stores are devoting space and funds to ensure we can offer our patients the latest in eyecare facilities, and our Optometrists everything they need to truly thrive.

What’s more, we’re the only opticians in Ireland to offer customers a wide range of cutting edge clinical services. From customer-friendly Digital Precision Eyecare tablets to brand new digital retinal cameras. In our opinion, well trained should also mean well equipped.

The opportunity to own a business in your home town

Plenty of our stores in Ireland are run by Optometrists that are local to the area. The unique, family feel that comes with local Optometrists running their own store truly embodies the Specsavers way.

As Optometrist Donna Harbison notes, being given the chance to become a store director in her native Omagh was a real honour:

I’m really proud to be back practicing in my home town and love the familiarity that comes with being local. I feel lucky to have been given this opportunity in the town where I was born and bred.’ Whether you’ve never left Ireland or are returning home after developing your career elsewhere, becoming a store director is a realistic ambition for Optometrists in Ireland.

You’ll also have the opportunity to give something back. Find out more about that here.

It’s the sense of pride and achievement you’ll get from working at one of our Irish stores that will truly add value to your role as an Optometrist.
