Ashleigh, FCR Team Leader discusses how she juggles her career and family 

What was your background before joining Specsavers?  
Before Specsavers, I worked as a Telesales Advisor (and then a Senior Recruitment Advisor and Receptionist) at the local newspaper. I was there for 11 years until I left to have my baby girl, now aged 8. There was nowhere left for me to go at the company and it was time for a big change. 

In a nutshell, what do you do? 
As a Team Leader my main focus is developing the agents in my pod and striving to get them to be the best that they possibly can, as well as developing myself of course. Behind the scenes I am continually looking for ways to improve the teams’ customer service techniques and general processes to stay ahead of the game as well as working closely with a multitude of other departments. 

What does your typical day look like?  
Busy (and that's after a hectic early morning start including the school run); but who wants to come to work and feel uninspired and bored all day? No two days in FCR are the same and there is always something to work on, be it day to day tasks or adhoc projects. 

What makes you most proud of your time at Specsavers so far?  
Being successful in my application for FCR Team Leader. Before Specsavers I lacked in drive and aspiration, working here has helped me form a solid career path with lots of opportunities. I was also awarded a Customer First Award after being nominated by one of our stores which I am incredibly proud of. 

How have you developed?  
Over the past 4 years I have been promoted from Agent to Specialist Agent to Team Leader as well as completing the Institute of Customer Service Communications qualification. I am now studying towards the Solutions module. I would never have pushed myself out of my comfort zone beforehand but I'm really pleased I gave it a go! 

What do you love about your job? What is a challenge?  
I love working closely with a group of great people in a successful finance department. The challenge is keeping up with an ever changing business and the needs of our customers.
