Specsavers Sutton-in-Ashfield celebrates new flagship store
Local opticians creates the perfect
environment for its customers and team
Specsavers Sutton-in-Ashfield celebrated becoming the largest Specsavers store in the UK with a grand opening in July 2017. The newly renovated store has made huge investments to deliver an incredible experience for customers and employees, including implementing the very latest in optical technology.
Guests were invited on a tour of the new site which now includes a revolutionary pre-testing area, a dedicated DVLA and visual fields room as well as a further five consulting rooms.
The store provides Enhanced Optical Services (EOS) on behalf of the NHS, helping to provide faster, more easily accessible primary care for patients, while reducing the burden on GPs and hospitals. The qualified and experienced staff will now have a greater capacity to help customers with minor eye conditions, including red or watering eye and dry or sticky eye.
The non-retail areas of the business have also been relocated to the basement, formerly the old Idlewells car park, which consists of the lab and a call centre, as well as a large training room.
A great place to work
This flagship store is really setting the pace for optics moving forward as well as what a great place to work really looks like. Training and development is something we really pride ourselves on at Specsavers so this store also has its own academy, emphasising the importance of staff training in the practice. In these changing times Nigel Davidson, Store Director also recognises the importance of a healthy work/life balance so as part of its store renovation he decided to include an incredible staff break out area which includes a large kitchen area including free fruit, a games area and also ‘The Snug’ for some well-deserved downtime – who wouldn’t want to work here?
‘We had an absolutely fantastic day celebrating the opening of the new store and showing off all the amazing, high-tech upgrades to customers and guests. We also focussed our refit around our staff, supporting the amazing team we have here. The basement extension has created a wonderful space for them to relax in and enjoy. It’s so important that we have a happy team – creating the right culture ensures we offer the very best customer service. ‘We are delighted to become the largest Specsavers’s store in the UK, and having already attained the prestigious accolade of the UK’s Multiple Practice of the Year at the Opticians Awards, we believe our investment represents our commitment to continue delivering great service to all our existing and new customers.’ Nigel Davidson, Retail Director
