Meet Phil Barnes - Head of Financial
What was your background before joining Specsavers?
I spent 15 years with a well-known high street retailer, starting out in stores and then working up to a position of Regional Security Manager.
Tell us a bit about your career journey at Specsavers?
I started working for Specsavers in 2001 when I joined the newly formed Loss Prevention team as a Loss Prevention Consultant. Several years later as the team expanded I became the Senior Loss Prevention Consultant. In 2015 the dept was rebranded the Financial Risk Support team and I was promoted to the position of Head of Financial Risk Support.
How have Specsavers supported your development?
Specsavers have always supported my personal development and have given me access to numerous externally run training workshops as well as having a very good internal online training programme called ILearn.
What makes you most proud of your time at Specsavers so far?
I am most proud of being part of a team that works tirelessly to deliver the best we can for our Joint Venture Partners (JVP’s) and a company that truly wants to deliver exceptional eye care to everyone and never stops pushing the boundaries to continue to deliver new advancements in the optical and hearing sector.
