Benefits boost for Specsavers optometrists
May 11, 2018
Joint venture partners at Specsavers have agreed a unique and wide-ranging benefits package for employed optometrists.
Nimesh Popat, director of professional recruitment and retention, says: ‘One of the real strengths of Specsavers has always been the joint venture partnership, which means that every store is led by local clinical and retail business owners who can focus on providing the very best clinical service and care to customers as well as on being a great place to work.
‘It means for optometrists in our stores, that you don’t have to wait for a decision from “head office” – the people who you need to speak to are right there with you in the store.
‘At the same time, our partners recognise that optometrists today are looking for more certainty and consistency in the benefits packages that are available to them, wherever they choose to work.
‘Of course, many practices will offer more than the national package, but it sets out for the first time what is the minimum that is on offer to you if you work at Specsavers.’
The benefits package has three main elements:
Your future covered
Unrivalled clinical support and continuing professional development, including the latest technology, particularly OCT. Bespoke career development that includes leadership and clinical roles as well as partnership. GOC and College of Optometrists fees paid.
Your lifestyle covered
33 days holiday (in most but not all stores) as standard, as well as exclusive access to Specsavers Perks, a benefit scheme that saves money on a range of products including holidays, days out, homeware, electronics and grocery shopping
Your health covered
A susbstantial package of healthcare benefits, including routine and emergency dental care, prescription cover and allergy testing, yearly health checks and hospital stay cover.
