After almost seven years as a Locum Optometrist, Shokoufeh Zangeneh decided it was time to make the move into a residency role and become a vital part of a thriving Specsavers team. Shokoufeh was working part-time as a self-employed professional before deciding to make the move to become Resident Optometrist at Specsavers in Hyde. Despite never having held a residency position with us before, Specsavers was unquestionably Shokoufeh’s first choice.

The story of how Shokoufeh successfully took the next step in her career and became a senior member of a successful Specsavers store is an interesting one…

Shokoufeh has been a qualified Optometrist for almost ten years and in 2011, she started working for herself as a Locum like many Optometrists do. When she decided the time was right to look for a permanent position, Specsavers was Shokoufeh’s obvious choice. Though locum work has many benefits, Shokoufeh has found real value in being part of a team and is enjoying coming to the same store each day.

‘I have been a part-time Locum Optometrist for the past few years. I was happy with the company so when I decided to go back to full-time work, Specsavers was my first choice. As an Optometrist, I love the nature of my job anyway, but going to the same practice every day and being part of the team is very rewarding.’

Shokoufeh managed to successfully secure her new role with the help of Specsavers Recruitment, the internal recruitment team at Specsavers. Having been contacted about a vacancy she picked up a conversation with Gaynor, an expert consultant, and discussed her options. By guiding her through the process from start to finish, Gaynor helped Shokoufeh successfully land her perfect opportunity.

‘I received an email from Gaynor regarding the position that had come up in the Hyde practice. When I replied showing my interest, she arranged the interview for me and remained in contact with me until I secured the job. Gaynor was very friendly and professional at the same time.’

Having started her new role in Specsavers Hyde, Shokoufeh was keen to share some advice with anyone considering joining Specsavers and speaking to Specsavers Recruitment:

‘Just go for it.’
