In-store merchandiser Carol is 68 and has been at the store for 17 years. Barbara is 69 and has 10 years’ service, while Paula is 62 and has worked in store for 9 years. Both work in eye health clinics. Yve is PR supervisor at the store, and is 61 with an amazing 24 years’ service. Sue has been at the store for 14 years, and is 63 and a clinical advisor.

Punit Patel, store director in Chatham, said: ‘Carol, Barbara, Paula, Yve and Sue are all really important members of our team in store, and we are delighted that they still love coming to work with us after all this time. With nearly three quarters of a century of service between them – which is a massive achievement – they bring skills and experience which delight our customers and help the rest of our team grow. I wonder if any other stores employ as many over 60s as we do. If they do not, they certainly should.’
